Woodbury, Conn.—The 1754 House—considered by many to be the oldest inn in Connecticut—today released its May–June live music lineup for its on-site tavern, the Flat Five. Known for its warm ambiance, exceptional fare, and handcrafted cocktails, the Flat Five continues to draw an eclectic mix of musicians whose talents span jazz, blues, country, rock, and more.
The spring lineup features acts with impressive credentials: musicians who have studied under jazz legends, performed at festivals and honky-tonks across the country, and opened for major recording artists. Now, they bring their distinctive sound to the intimate setting of the 1754 House.
A highlight of the calendar is the Wednesday night rotation: every other week alternates between Wine & Cheese Night with the Phil Forbes Jazz Duo and Open Mic Night hosted by Mike O’Mara. On Open Mic Nights, guests can enjoy a burger—recognized as one of the state’s best by Connecticut Magazine—and a beer for $20.
“We’ve built the Flat Five to be a place where there’s truly something for everyone,” said Michael Bates-Walsh, executive chef and owner of the 1754 House, who has been known to occasionally join bands on stage with his guitar. “Some nights are mellow, with smooth jazz and a glass of wine; others are electric, with spirited performances that get people up and dancing. I am in awe of the incredible musicians we have here in Connecticut and am so proud to welcome these artists to the 1754 House—where they share their gifts and create something special in the room. At the end of the day, it’s all about our guests. The Flat Five is open Wednesday through Saturday from 5 to 10 p.m., with the kitchen serving until 9 p.m. Live music typically takes place on Wednesday and Friday nights, beginning at 7 p.m. The entrance to the Flat Five is located at the back of the inn.
